Abstract: This report describes the in-stream water quality module within the Nutrient Sub-Model (NSM), Version 1.2. The in-stream water quality module includes the major processes for nitrogen, phosphorus, carbon, and oxygen cycling in a stream. Kinetic process equations are presented for each state variable for water quality modeling in streams. These equations were taken largely from models such as QUAL2K, ICM, etc. and summarize past development efforts. As research continues, it is anticipated that improved process descriptions will be developed and will be integrated into the NSM.-
