Research note-
Direct relationships arc developed between the discrete Fourier transform of a two-dimensional (rectangular) array and the discrete Fourier transform of the two-dimensional array formed by scanning the two-dimensional one. The forward and inverse relations both lake the form of suns involving certain coefficients which arc defined as a sum of complex exponential function. It is shown that these coefficients can be expresscd by a relatively simple formula. The method can be readily generalized for the reduction of dimension of transforms of arrays of higher dimensionality.-
