Abstract: A survey of the biota that occurred after dredged material disposal and prior to reclamation was conducted on Nott Island, Connecticut, a site selected for upland habitat development under the Dredged Material Research Program. The study included vegetation, floristics, habitat use by small mammals and nesting birds, and occurrence of larger mammals and bird visitors. Biota in the disposal area as well as on the rest of the island are described. Fourteen major vegetation associations in shrublands, grasslands, estuarine wetlands, and disturbed areas were delineated. A total of 253 species of plants were identified. Three species of small mammals and 70 species of birds were observed. This appendix also includes preliminary observations on experimental plantings of grasses and legumes at different levels of lime application.
