Nomographs for computation of radiation heat supply
Gerdel, Robert W.; Diamond, Marvin.; Walsh, K. J.
Technical reportSummary: A nomogram is given for computing the total daily amount of solar and sky radiation from 40-90°N lat. Correction values for elevation and cloud cover are tabulated. A second nomogram is presented which permits conversion of the values of radiation received to the net radiational heat balance of a snow cover, including the volume of meltwater produced when the snow temperature is at 0°C. A third nomogram is given which may be used to determine the radiation through a snow cover for snow densities from 0.2-0.6. An example of the use of the nomograms is illustrated.
