Introduction: This final report of flooding in the Genesee River Basin that occurred during June 1972 is made in accordance with Engineering Manual 500-1-1 dated 4 January 1972. Specific instructions are contained in paragraph 72.73 of that document. A separate report for the Oswego River Basin and a Summary Report that includes all the areas affected by "Agnes" within the Buffalo District have also been prepared. This report provides detailed data on the Lower Genesee River, Upper Genesee River, Canaseraga Creek, the Wellsville Area, and Mount Morris Dam. Various other areas are given minor coverage. The information presented contains precipitation and weather synopses furnished by National Weather Service (NWS), provisional stage hydrographs and peak discharges furnished by the United States Geological Survey (USGS) and estimated by Buffalo District Corps of Engineers, and damage estimates obtained by field reconnaissance by Buffalo District personnel and the Soil Conservation Service during and after the flood.
