dc.descriptionAbstract: The Army, Air Force, and Navy have developed policies that require sustainable design and development of their installations, which refers to the ability to execute the current mission without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs. This report documents how the government and the private sector are moving to develop and implement sustainable practices for facilities. It identifies opportunities for the Corps of Engineers to be a major national source of expertise that carries the knowledge of what sustainability is, into engineering practice. This work proposes a plan to conduct the needed research and to provide the tools that will guide decisions that will help make sustainable installations a reality.-
