Description: Technical report
Summary: This report presents the results of an investigation to determine the thermal properties of a variety of soils and insulating materials. This study represents only one phase of a comprehensive program of research. In addition to the thermal tests on soils, the program was extended to include tests on pre-cast insulating slabs and an asphalt paving mixture. Since this is the final report on the investigation, the data are given in detail; the thermal conductivity test data on soils are tabulated in appendix 1. In the discussion of the effects of various factors, graphs for just one or two soils are given in the body of the report, and similar curves for the other soils are included in an appendix.
