dc.description.abstractThis guide to the major plant associations and communities found in wetlands within the Gulf Coastal Plain is one of a series of eight such guides, each prepared by a specialist or specialists familiar with the wetlands in the region covered by the guide. The guides are intended for distribution to the various U.S. Army Engineer District for use in wetland identification in the implementation of Section 404 of the Federal Water Pollution Control Act Amendments of 1972. The classification system in the guide is intended solely for use in the Section 404 permit program and is not considered a classification system for other purposes.en_US
