dc.descriptionAbstract: Twenty-five sites were visited in China in 1994 and 1995 as part of a joint effort to survey for insects and pathogens as potential biological control agents of hydrilla and Eurasian watermilfoil. During the limited survey time, over 200 fungal isolates were obtained from plant tissues and water samples. Axenic cultures of the fungi were sent to the U.S. Department of Agriculture Agricultural Research Service Foreign Disease-Weed Science Laboratory, Frederick, MD, where they were tentatively identified and accessed into a permanent collection. Not all of the isolates are considered to be potential agents for biological control. Of particular interest are pathogens in the genera Pythium, Phytophthora, Fusarium, Cylindrocladium, Glomerella, and Mycoleptodiscus. One or more species in each of these genera have been reported to be disease-producing organisms on a variety of plants.-
