Summary: The transmission through an idealized snow cover has been shown to be directly related to the albedo and to be an exponentially decreasing function. Two parameters have been proposed as possible correlating factors for transmission and albedo measurements. The first factor is a characteristic of of the surface condition of the cover and the second is a characteristic of the snow beneath the surface.
