Summary: A solution of polyvinylformaldehyde in 1, 2-dichloroethane mixed with white, fine-grained titanium oxide (Titanox-RA) is used to make plastic replicas of snow samples for petrofabric studies. A second clear film of Plexiglas may be applied. Formulas and details of preparation are given. A method is described for preparing snow samples for thin sections by filling the pores with ice without changing the structure of the snow.
