Description: Research note
Abstract: This report provides a generalization of classical barometric altimetry for longer distances and explanations for some shortcomings associated with ground temperature and the weather situation. The use of weather forecasts is reviewed and error estimates under consideration of potential Army use are provided. Finally, some general views concerning the estimation of meteorological field variables are presented.
