Description: | Research note Abstract: The theory of one-dimensional radioactive transfer is derived for media composed of layers of varying scattering properties. An illuminating interpretation of the formulas is given in terms of the various possible paths of multiple scattering. The semi-infinite homogeneous case is treated by introducing an invariance condition. Then, the transition to the continuous case is made by passage to a mathematical limit. Tabulated diffuse reflection coefficients are given for this last case. |
