Description: Contract report
Abstract: The object of the study was to determine and analyze alternative interface with the Landsat D ground data distribution system. The approach taken was to identify and define the requirements for data needed to meet the demands of the Civil Works Operation. These were then word as criteria for structuring alternative system options. The key issues emanating from the requirements portion of the study arc: perishability of the data volumes required in each district. Landsat D data path was investigated with regard to these data needs leading to identification of access paths and data availability. Also, a characterization of the media of data transmission was provided. This report discusses the parameters that must be considered to effectively evaluate the alternatives that are available to the COE for interfacing with the Landsat D data system. Key issues of several alternatives are characterized.
