Description: | Technical Report Abstract: Twenty-four 2-ft concrete cubes were cast each in two 12-in. lifts. Three cubes were cast for each of eight different horizontal construction joint conditions, the joint being the horizontal plane between lifts. A series of strength tests (shear and flexural) was made on cores drilled from each cube to evaluate the effect of iron stain on the horizontal construction joint. An analysis of the results indicated that a strong concentration of iron stain on the joint does not significantly affect the shear and flexural strengths of the joint. |
