Abstract: Eau Galle Lake, one of four Corps of Engineers reservoirs surveyed during the Environmental and Water Quality Operational Studies, is a small, dimictic, flood control reservoir located in west-central Wisconsin. Major land uses in this small glaciated watershed include dairy farming, residential habitation, and agriculture. Limnological conditions (i.e., oxygen depletion, algal blooms, reduced transparency, and macrophyte infestations), which are characteristic of other eutrophic lakes in the area, are strongly influenced by tributary material loadings and project operation. This report documents investigative methodologies and results of general studies designed to define general water quality conditions in Eau Galle Lake and its tributaries. A subsequent report deals with the results of other, more specific water quality studies.-
