Description: | Technical Report Abstract: This study presents the results of applying a gas tracer technique to determine the reaeration rate of flow through a hydraulic model. Radioactive tracers, krypton-85 and tritium, were used to determine the reaeration characteristics of two different spillway designs. The technique was sufficiently sensitive to detect gas-transfer changes due to the design changes tested. Dissolved oxygen (DO) uptake was predicted with results from the tracer tests and compared favorably with observed DO uptake from disturbed-equilibrium tests. |
