Abstract: The Seattle District Corps of Engineers conducted a forebay water temperature profile study at Libby Dam from 2002 to 2004. The purpose of the study was to collect baseline temperature data to determine the temporal and spatial gradients in water temperature in the forebay at Libby Dam. The major objectives of this study were to: 1. Evaluate water temperature profiles in the forebay of Libby Dam to determine the representativeness of the current forebay temperature string location on actual forebay conditions. 2.Evaluate water temperatures at different depths in the reservoir to determine vertical temperature/density gradients. 3. Characterize the longitudinal and lateral variability of temperature in the forebay.
