Abstract: Abstract: From March 1999 to September 1999, personnel at the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center identified individuals and/or organizations that are involved in long-term, shallow groundwater monitoring of wetlands. This information will be used to compile a directory of wetland sites being used for long-term, shallow (1-2 m deep) groundwater monitoring by means of wells or piezometers, emphasizing sites that have or will have at least 3-5 years of frequent groundwater measurements, especially sites that straddle wetland-to-upland transition zones. This information is needed to provide the basic databases for future wetland research proposals. Work was accomplished in two stages. First, an effort was made to identify and contact as many individuals and organizations as possible that are involved in any type of wetlands work. Then, from that group, individuals were selected that may be involved in long-term, shallow groundwater monitoring of wetlands. This group was asked to provide basic site information. This document lists individuals who indicated they had or may know of sites that could be included in the directory of wetland sites being used for long-term shallow groundwater monitoring. Each individual is listed by name and e-mail address and/or telephone number, and an agency affiliation is provided along with a brief, pertinent comment.
