Abstract: The portion of the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway within the Savannah District Civil Works boundaries is located between miles 552 and 713 of the AIWW. Roughly this area falls between Port Royal Sound, South Carolina, on the north and Cumberland Sound on the south, which is located at the Georgia-Florida border, and for the purposes of this document will be referred to as the AIWW. The AIWW is 161 miles long and therefore the waterway was divided into operational reaches to better organize discussion. This Dredged Material Management Plan (DMMP) discusses the shoaling areas, shoaling rates, maintenance requirements and sediment placement areas for each section of the waterway.
