Abstract: This Environmental Assessment (EA) represents the position of the US Army Corps of Engineers, Charleston District regarding the environmental impacts for the 2005 renourishment of Folly Island and has been prepared due to the change of the material borrow area for this nourishment cycle of the existing shore protection project. The April 1991 Environmental Assessment for the Folly Beach, South Carolina Shore Protection Project is incorporated in this document by reference and can be found in its entirety in Appendix 3. It is the purpose of this document to explain the design criteria for these changes. Only the subjects of the 1991 EA that need to be updated or are no longer valid are included in this document. All other findings from the 1991 EA are still valid.
