Abstract: The capacity of wetlands to provide specific functions is inextricably linked to characteristics and processes of the surrounding landscape, and therefore effective wetland stewardship and management must operate within a landscape context. This technical note provides fundamental concepts for managing wetlands by summarizing a comprehensive and systematic framework for managing wetlands as interactive components of landscape systems (Warne and Smith 1995).
