Abstract: This article is the second in a series prep red to introduce potential users to new procedures for planning airborne remote sensing missions to optimize the informational content of the resulting imagery for a specific purpose. The first article (published in the December 1976 Bulletin) dealt with mission planning for photographic sensor systems. This article introduces the procedures developed to help plan thermal infrared remote sensing missions. Subsequent articles will deal with mission planning for microwave remote sensors and the economics of remote sensing.
