Abstract: | The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mississippi River Valley Division, Regional Planning and Environment Division South, has prepared this Environmental Assessment for New Orleans District to evaluate the potential impacts of the designated disposal site for the placement and beneficial use of dredged material removed during maintenance dredging of the hopper dredge disposal area located in the Federally-maintained Mississippi River. This EA has been prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 and the Council on Environmental Quality’s Regulations, as reflected in the USACE Engineering Regulation ER 200-2-2. This EA provides sufficient information on the potential adverse and beneficial environmental effects to allow the District Commander to make an informed decision on the appropriateness of an Environmental Impact Statement or a Finding of No Significant Impact. |
