Abstract: This Environmental Assessment presents the impacts that could potentially result from the dredging and dredged material placement of the federally authorized Bayou Coden Navigation Project. The Bayou Coden channel is located in Mobile County, Alabama, north of the Mississippi Sound and it connects to the Bayou La Batre Channel at Portersville Bay. The purpose of this EA is to determine whether or not the proposed action has the potential for creating significant impacts to the environment and would thereby warrant a more detailed study on possible impacts, mitigation, and alternative courses of action. The purpose of the proposed action is to reestablish the authorized depth of the federally authorized Bayou Coden Navigation Project. The channel is needed to provide for safe navigation by commercial and private vessels into Bayou Coden.
