| Abstract: | The federally authorized Jupiter Carlin Segment of the Palm Beach County Shore Protection Project is located on the east coast of Florida, approximately 80 miles north of Miami, in the northern portion of Palm Beach County, just south of Jupiter Inlet. The project spans Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Monuments (also commonly referred to as Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) R-monuments1) R-13 (just south of Jupiter Inlet) to R-19 (Carlin Park), for approximately 1.1 miles. For the present study a cost share recalculation was completed using Section 103(d) of WRDA 1986 guidelines: costs assigned to developed lands (publicly or privately owned) are cost shared 65% Federal and 35% non-Federal. Undeveloped public lands are cost shared 65% Federal and 35% non-Federal. Lands with exclusively private benefits and lands with insufficient parking and/or public access are 100% non-Federal cost. Shorelines owned by the Federal government are 100% Federal cost. Note that, for the purposes of this report, “developed” indicates the presence of buildings and/or other infrastructure such as street ends or other transportation facilities. If lands are not within ¼ mile of public access and either public parking or a bus stop, then the associated costs will be 100% non-Federal. |
