Abstract: A prototype environmental data set was devised to provide material developers with information on terrain and environmental factors that affect the design, development, and testing of Army material (e.g., mines, munitions/ weapons, bridges, vehicles, sensors, etc.). A computerized simulation is used for performance prediction. Factor categories include digital maps and data acquisition of topography, vegetation, surface and subsurface composition, hydrologic features, cultural features, climate, weather, and obscurants.
