Abstract: This study was sponsored. by the U. S. Army Materiel Command as part of DA Project 1-T-0-21701-A-046, "Trafficability and. Mobility Research," Task 1-T-0-21701-A-046-03, "Mobility Fundamentals and Model Studies." It was performed at the U. S. Army Engineer Waterways Experiment Station by personnel of the Army Mobility Research Branch, Mobility and Environmental Division, under the supervision of Messrs. W. J. Turnbull, S. J. Knight, and D. R. Freitag. Mr. A. J. Green, Jr., had the primary responsibility for the tests, which were conducted during the period. 7 August-31 November 1961, and preparation of this report. Messrs. J. L. McRae and N. R. Murphy, Jr., assisted in preparation of the report. Col. Alex G. Sutton, Jr., CE, was Director of the Waterways Experiment Station during performance of the study. Mr. J. B. Tiffany was Technical Director.
