Abstract: The investigation reported herein is part of the vehicle mobility research program under Subproject 8-70-05-400, "Trafficability of Soils as Related to the Mobility of Military Vehicles," authorized by the Office, Chief of Engineers. It was accomplished in the Soils Division, U. S. Army Engineer Waterways Experiment Station. Personnel of the Waterways Experiment Station actively engaged in the study were Messrs. W. J. Turnbull, C.R. Foster, S. J. Knight, A. B. Thompson, J. E. Green, and M. D. Beasley, and Miss Mary E. Smith. This report was written by Messrs. J. E. Green and D. R. Freitag. The tests were performed while Col. A. P. Rollins, Jr., CE, was Director of the Waterways Experiment Station. Present Director is Col. Edmund H. Lang, CE. Technical Director is :Mr. J. B. Tiffany.
