Abstract: This paper discusses one phase of the work conducted at the U. S. Army Engineer Waterways Experiment Station (WES) under the sponsorship and guidance of the Directorate of Research and Development, U. S. Army Materiel Command, no part of Task 1-V-0-21701-A-046-02, "Surface Mobility." The study discussed was accomplished by the Trafficability Section of the Army Mobility Research Branch, Mobility and Environmental Division, WES, under the supervision of Messrs. W. J. Turnbull, W. G. Shockley, S. J. Knight, and E. S. Rush. This paper was prepared and presented by Mr. B. G. Schreiner, Trafficability Section, at U. S. /Canadian joint meeting of the International Society for Terrain-Vehicle Systems in Houghton, Michigan, held on 9-10 February 1965.
