dc.descriptionIntroduction: The study reported herein is part of a continuing investigation to determine the validity of an empirical method of predicting the susceptibility of Lower Mississippi River banks to flow slides and/or liquefaction type failures. In this report soils data collected by routine borings in the riverbanks in late 1954 and 1955 are evaluated and from the evaluations predictions are made of the susceptibility of the banks to failures of these types. This report also includes discussion of failures that occurred in 1955 at sites previously studied and for which stability predictions were made in earlier reports of this series.-
