Abstract: | This study was sponsored by the Degradation Effects Program (DEP), formerly Joint Environmental Effects Program. Funds for this study were allocated to the U. S. Army Engineer Waterways Experiment Station (WES) by the U. S. Army Materiel Command, Program Manager for Selected Ammunition, Picatinny Arsenal, Dover, N. J. This report was prepared by Messrs. H. W. West, R. R. Friesz, E. A. Dardeau, Jr., G. F. Brown, and L. E. Couch, and Miss J. A. Parks of the Terrain Analysis Branch (TAB), Mobility and Environmental (M&E) Division, from data collected by WES field teams at DEF test sites in the United States, Panama Canal Zone, and Australia during June 1966 to December 1970. Computer programs for reduction, manipulation, analyses, and portrayal of environmental data were developed by Miss Parks and Mr. E. A. Baylot of the TAB. This volwne is one of a four-volume report entitled Environmental Characterization of Munitions Test Sites. These volumes are: I: Techniques and Analyses of Data II: Data I III: Data II IV: Supplementary Characterizations All phases of·this study were under the direct supervision of Mr. W. E. Grabau, Chief, TAB, and under the general supervision of Messrs. W. G. Shockley and S. J. Knight, Chief and Assistant Chief, respectively, of the M&E Division. The Directors of the WES during the collection of data and preparation of this report were COL John R. Oswalt, Jr., CE; COL Levi A. Brown, CE; and COL Ernest D. Peixotto, CE. Technical Directors were Messrs. J. B. Tiffany and F. R. Brown. |
