Description: Special Report
Summary: The layout of a drop zone for air supply is described and diagrammed, and packaging of supplies for air drops is discussed briefly. The procedure requires prudent use of colored flags to aid the pilot's depth perception and to facilitate height estimates from the surface, smoke bombs to outline the drop zone and indicated wind conditions, and constant radio communication between pilot and expedition leader at the surface.
