dc.descriptionSummary: Density measurements of single crystals from the Mendenhall Glacier (Alaska) were made by weighing the crystal, first in air and then in a liquid of known density, in this case 2,2,4-trimethylpentane. The density of the liquid was determined by specially designed pycnometers. Values determined for different crystals are tabulated. The calculated estimated error of the density determinations of the ice specimens is 2.1/10,000g/cm^3. Measurable density variations were found for different crystals. Clear crystal aggregates can have a lower density than pure single ice crystals.-
