Abstract: The Army increasingly recognizes the importance of the social systems in the conduct of operations abroad. However, the current standard Army frameworks and practices make no attempt to understand the social power dimensions of the human domain. This report provides an annotated bibliography of a subset of sources identified in the process of reviewing literature for the Vulnerability Assessment Software Toolkit (VAST) project. This literature review identifies articles written by current or former members of the military who constructively critiqued or otherwise offered suggestions intended to improve the Army’s human domain assessment process.
