Abstract: The authority for this investigation is contained in comment No. 2, elated 8 May 1962, to Disposition Form from the U. S. Army Engineer Waterways Experiment Station (WES) to the Office, Chief of Engineers (OCE), dated 13 April 1962, subject: "Project Plan for Investigation of the :Effect of Shape of Uniform Grading Curves for Coarse Aggregate on Properties of Mass Concrete," and first indorsement from OCE dated 14 June 1965 to WES letter dated 20 May 1965, subject: "Supplement to Project Plan for Investigation of the Effect of Shape of Uniform Grading Curves for Coarse Aggregate on Properties of Mass Concrete (ES 617)." This investigation is Project 617.3 under Item 617, "Improvements in Concrete Construction Practices," of the CWI-Engineering Studies Program of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The investigation was conducted from 1962 to 1967 at the Concrete Division, WES, under the supervision of Messrs. Thomas B. Kennedy, Bryant Mather, James M. Polatty, William O. Tynes, Rembert L. Curry, and Willard B. Lee. This report was prepared by Mr. Tynes. Directors of the WES during the conduct of the investigation and the preparation and publication of this report were COL Alex G. Sutton, Jr., CE, and COL John R. Oswalt, Jr., CE. Technical Director was Mr. J. B. Tiffany.
