Abstract: A plan was prepared for coordinating and managing the data required for the Mississippi Sound and Adjacent Area Study, a complex U.S. Army Engineer District, Mobile, planning study. The plan provides a logical decision framework for how data essential to the core of the planning study should be handled. The framework starts with the definition of study problems and needs and traces the information requirements to identify specific data that should be computerized and the hardware and software required. The report provides a series of tabular forms to be filled in by the study manager and staff. The plan is applicable to most complex U.S. Army Corps of Engineers planning studies, i.e., those with multiple objectives covering extensive geographical areas.
