Abstract: | Purpose: This Coastal and Hydraulics Engineering Technical Note (CHETN) provides an overview of levee setback projects and their potential benefits. Levee setbacks relocate a traditional river levee farther away from the channel to provide additional floodplain storage, thereby reducing flood heights, slowing flood peaks, and in some cases, providing ecosystem and recreational benefits. |
