Purpose: The purpose of this Technical Note is to introduce BroadBand Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (BBADCP) technology and to illustrate its use during a recent field investigation to measure tidal currents at Shinnecock and Moriches Inlets, Long Island, New York. Discussions are directed towards the operational principles, functional characteristics, and capability of this state-of-the-art instrument.
