Abstract: Abstract: Floating debris can have an extremely harmful effect on certain hydraulic structures such as flood control works and navigation facilities and is consequently an important concern in maintenance and repair activities. This report assembles information found in published sources about equipment and methods used to control floating debris. Also included is an appendix on booms, their functions in the water transportation of pulpwood, and results of laboratory tests of various boom designs which was previously published by the Pulp and Paper Research Institute of Canada and which contains much useful information applicable to booms for control of floating debris.
