Description: Technical memorandum
General: This memorandum constitutes a final report of the model study performed at the U. S. Waterways Experiment Station on the spillway for the Santee River dam. The principal investigations were conducted on a six-bay model, which was built, undistorted, to the linear scale ratio, model-to-prototype, of 1 to 36; supplementary observation tests were conducted upon a single-bay model constructed in a glass flume to the linear scale ratio , model-to- prototype, of 1 to 50. The general purpose of the model study was to develop an adequate design for the spillway and to obtain certain hydraulic characteristics considered essential to its successful operation.
