Preface: This investigation was authorized by the Office, Chief of Engineers, for inclusion in the Civil Works Investigation (CWI) grouting program for fiscal year 1959, and is a part of CWI Item 550, "Foundation Grouting," of the CWI Program of the Corps of Engineers. The investigation was conducted in the Concrete Division, U. S. Army Engineer Waterways Experiment Station (WES), during fiscal years 1960 and 1961, under the direction of Messrs. Thomas B. Kennedy and James M. Polatty, and under the supervision of Messrs. William O. Tynes, Rembert L. Curry, Ernest E. McCoy, Jr., and Ralph A. Bendinelli. This report was prepared by Mr. Bendinelli. Col. Edmund H. Lang, CE, and Col. Alex G. Sutton, Jr., CE, were Directors of WES during this investigation and the preparation and publication of this report. Mr. J. B. Tiffany was Technical Director.
