Preface: Authority for this investigation was contained in first endorsement dated 22 November 1954, to a letter from the Waterways Experiment Station to the Office, Chief of Engineers, dated 18 November 1954, subject, "Sanded-Grout Program for Fiscal Year 1955." The work was performed in connection with Civil Works Investigations No. CW 550 "Grouting Research - Concrete Dam Foundations." The investigation was conducted by personnel of the Concrete Division, Waterways Experiment Station, under the supervision of Messrs. Thomas B. Kennedy, James M. Polatty, Walter O. Crawley, and Ralph Bendinelli. This report was prepared by Mr. Polatty. Report No. 1 covering other work with sanded grouts will be issued simultaneously with this report. Additional work will be reported later and a final report of all the test results will be published upon completion of the program.
