Preface: This investigation was authorized by letter from the Office, Chief of Engineers, dated 22 October 1953, subject, "Program for Civil Works Investigations No. 550," and third endorsement, dated 11 March 1954, to a letter from the Waterways Experiment Station to the Office, Chief of Engineers, dated 15 February 1954, subject, “Report of Tests of Sanded Grouts, Civil Works Investigations No. 550.” This investigation was performed in connection with Civil Works Investigations No. 550, Grouting Research - Concrete Dam Foundations. The program was accomplished by personnel of the Concrete Division, Waterways Experiment Station, under the supervision of Messrs. Herbert K. Cook, Thomas B. Kennedy, and Walter O. Crawley. This report was prepared by Messrs. T. B. Kennedy and J. M. Polatty. Report No. 2, covering other work with sanded grouts, will be issued simultaneously with this report. Additional work will be reported later and a final report of all the test results will be published upon completion of the program.
