Preface: Authority for the tests discussed herein is contained in first endorsement from the Office, Chief of Engineers, dated 1 April 1953, to a letter from the Waterways Experiment Station, dated 27 January 1953, subject, "Soniscope Tests of Concrete." These tests are part of Civil Works Investigations Item CW 600 "General Concrete Research," and were conducted by the Concrete Division, Waterways Experiment Station. Those actively connected with the direction and conduct of these tests include Messrs. T. B. Kennedy, B. Mather, and E. E. McCoy, all of the Concrete Division, Waterways Experiment Station. The soniscope testing was carried out by Messrs. E. C. Roshore, J, H. Sanderson, D. Glass, and M. Glass of the Concrete Division, and L. T. Watson, Jr., of the Instrumentation Branch, Waterways Experiment Station. This report was prepared by E. C. Roshore. These tests would not have been possible without the cooperation of the Little Rock, Mobile, Nashville, and Savannah Districts, Corps of Engineers, and of Messrs. I. L. Tyler and W. G. Gray of the Portland Cement Association.
