Description: | Technical memorandum Preface: The investigation reported herein, including borings, laboratory testing, embankment design, and report, was originally authorized in the 4th endorsement, dated 2 July 1946, to a memorandum from Mr. Chas. Senour, Chief Engineer, Mississippi River Commission, dated 25 April 1946. In February 1947 the project was deferred and then authorized for resumption in February 1948 by letter from the President, Mississippi River Commission, to the Director, Waterways Experiment Station, subject "Borings - U. S. Highways 71 and 190 West Atcbafalaya Floodway," dated 17 October 1947. Personnel of the Soils Division, 'Waterways Experiment Station, who were actively connected with the investigation were Messrs. W. J. Turnbull, S. J. Johnson, C. I. Mansur, and W. J. Emrich. This report was prepared by Messrs. Emrich and Mansur. |
