dc.descriptionPreface: This is the final report on the study of energy partitioning resulting from stemmed and unstemmed explosions which was conducted by the Waterways Experiment Station for the Engineer Research and Development Laboratories (ERDL), Department of the Army, and the Armed Forces Special Weapons Project (AFSWP), Department of Defense The study was authorized by the Office, Chief of Engineers, in a letter dated 12 February 1954, subject: "ERDL Energy Partitioning Study," and enclosure thereto (letter from the Armed Forces Special Weapons Project to Office, Chief of Engineers, dated 3 February, 1954) .The study was conducted during the period December 1953-June 1954 by personnel of the Hydraulics Division, Waterways Experiment Station, under the general supervision of Messrs. E. P. Fortson, Jr., and F. R. Brown. Mr. G. L. Arbuthnot, Jr., was directly in charge of the investigation, assisted by Mr. J. N. Strange, in charge of data analysis and correlation, and Mr. F. A. Pieper, in charge of plans and operations. Instrumentation facilities were provided by the Instrumentation Branch, Waterways Experiment Station, under the general supervision of Messrs. E. H. Woodman and W. B. Slay, assisted by Messrs. L. H. Daniels and L. F. Ingram. The cooperation and technical advice of Captains R. C. Nelson and W. J. Slazak, Dr. T. G. Walsh, and Messrs. John G. Lewis and Owen Richmond, Special Projects Branch, ERDL, are gratefully acknowledged as valuable contributions to the successful completion of the study.-
