Description: Technical memorandum
Introduction: The site of the proposed Texarkana Dam is located on the Sulphur River, a tributary of the Red River, 9 miles southwest of Texarkana, Texas, near U. S. Highway 59. The dam, one of the flood-control works for the Red River below Denison, Texas, will consist of a rolled earth fill embankment, a chute type spillway in the south abutment, a controlled outlet structure near the south abutment, and a small rolled earth fill dike south of the main dam. Plate 1 is an aerial mosaic showing the various features of the project including the borrow areas; the location of the outlet structure is not shown because it has not yet been definitely established.
