Introduction: This study, which was a combined laboratory and field investigation of resinous water repellents for soils, was authorized by the Office, Chief of Engineers in the 4th indorsement, dated 18 August 1944, to Work Order DAC 3047, dated 12 July 1944. The Engineer Board, Fort Belvoir, Virginia, acted as the administrative agency and the U. S. Waterways Experiment Station acted as the testing agency. The Experiment Station was directed by the Engineer Board to proceed with the investigation by letter to the President, Mississippi River Commission, dated 22 August 1945, subject "Investigation of Water Repellents."
