dc.descriptionPreface: Authority to conduct model studies of the Morganza Floodway Control Structure was granted by the President, Mississippi River Commission, in a letter to the Director, Waterways Experiment Station, dated 2 August 1946, subject: "Model Tests of Morganza Floodway Control Structure." The model studies were accomplished during the period December 1946-July 1948 in the Hydraulics Division of the Waterways Experiment Station by Messrs. J. W. Bolin, Jr. and S. H. Halper, under the general supervision of Messrs. F. R. Brown and T. E. Murphy. Messrs. E. J. Williams, J. E. Sanders, C. L. Sumrall, Jr., and F. B. Toffaleti, engineers of the Mississippi River Commission, visited the Waterways Experiment Station at frequent intervals during the course of the studies to discuss the testing program and to correlate test results with design work concurrently being accomplished.-
